Phrases for your morning routine~.

 

So, kids are now back to school starting this week in our area. Finally I feel like summer is over. 🙂 My boys were not too crazy about going back to school as they have been sleeping in until late morning all summer. Waking up on time to eat breakfast and make it to school was a challenge after relaxing too much during the last 2 and half month.

I don’t know about yours, but here is how our morning routine goes, all explained in Japanese below.  Do you have any similarities?

 

1.おはようございます。

Well, my boys don’t really say, “おはようございます(Ohayo gozaimasu)”. I am lucky if they tell me just “おはよう(Ohayo)”.

 

2.顔を洗って、歯を磨く。（かおをあらって、はをみがく-Kao wo aratte hao migaku）ーWash your face and brush your teeth.

 

3.朝ご飯をいただきます。（あさ　ごはんを　いただきます。-Asa gohan o itadakimasu）-Eat breakfast.

 

4. また　歯を　磨く　（また　はを　みがく-mata ha o migaku）ーBrush your teeth again!

 

5. 荷物を　まとめて　準備する　（にもつ　を　まとめて　じゅんび　する-nimotsu o matomete jyunbi suru）ーPack things up and get ready

 

Some of the phrases we use often below~

6. 今日も頑張ってね。（きょうも　がんばってね。-Kyou mo ganbatte ne）-Do your best again today.

 

7. 気を付けて、いってらっしゃい。（きをつけて　いって　らっしゃい-Kio tsukete itterasshai）-Be careful out there.

 

8.  後でね。（あとでね。-Ato dene)-See you later, see you soon.

 

9. ～によろしくね。~ni yoroshiku ne – Say hello to ~

 

10. いい一日を過ごしてね。（いい　いちにちを　すごしてね。-Ii ichinichi o sugoshite ne）Have a nice day!

 

So, these are the most commonly used morning phrases/expressions here at my house. Were these similar to what you would say or use in the morning during your routine?  Here are some of the useful vocabulary.

 

Morning  –  Asa (朝、あさ)

Good morning – Ohayo (おはよう、おはよう　ございます。)

Get ready -Shitaku suru(支度　をする、したく　をする)

Wash face – Kao o arau (顔を　洗う、　かおを　あらう)

Take shower – Shower o abiru (シャワーを　浴びる、シャワーを　あびる)

Dry hair – Kami o kawakasu (髪を　乾かす、かみを　かわかす)

Get changed – Kiga eru (着替える、　きがえる)

Get dressed – Fuku o kiru (服を　着る、　ふくを　きる)

Brush teeth – Ha o migaku (歯を　磨く、はを　みがく)

Pack up -Nimotsu o matomeru (荷物を　まとめる、　にもつを　まとめる)

Get in a car -Kuruma ni noru(車に　乗る、くるまに　のる）
