My kids have already started the summer break. I know some of you out there have been already done with school or have kids who are out of school and enjoying the summer. As a mom, I am not sure if I like this long summer break that lasts until the end of August. 🙂 I feel like summer is too long for school children. When I grew up in Japan, summer break was only a month and half at most from mid July through the end of August. However, long break allows us to travel to see our friends and family. I will be making a trip to Japan again this summer to go see my family.

In this blog today, I would like to cover some summer related fun Japanese words. I might have covered some of these in the past, but hopefully this post will give you an opportunity to learn some new Japanese vocabulary and expression.

Summer break – Natsu yasumi (夏休み、なつやすみ)

Summer is here.  – Natsuga kita.(夏が来た、なつがきた)

Summer travel – Natsu no Ryoko-(夏の旅行、なつのりょこう)

Visiting family and friends during summer – Natsu ni kazoku ya tomodachi ni aini iku.(夏に家族や友達に会いに行く、なつに　かぞくや　ともだちに　あいにいく。)

Have a great summer! – Tanoshii natsu o sugoshite ne.(楽しい夏を過ごしてね。たのしい　なつを　すごしてね。)

What’s your plan during summer? – Natsu no aida wa do-shiteruno?(夏の間はどうしてるの？　なつの　あいだは　どうしてるの？)

Kids will be going to the summer camps. – Kodomotachi wa sama- kyanpu ni ikimasu. (子供たちは、サマーキャンプに行きます。こどもたちは、さまーきゃんぷ　に　いきます。)

I love summer! – Natsu ga daisuiki desu.(夏が大好きです。なつが　だいすきです。)

What do you like about summer? – Natsu no donna tokoroga sukinano? (夏のどんなところが　好きですか？なつの　どんなところが　すきですか？)

I will be traveling during summer. – Natsu no aida wa ryoko- shiteimasu. (夏の間は、旅行しています。なつのあいだは、りょこう　しています。)

Where will you be traveling to? – Doko e ryokou ni ikuno? (何処へ　旅行に行きますか？　どこへ　りょこうへ　いきますか？)

My family will be coming over here. – Watashi no kazoku ga kochira ni kimasu.(私の家族がこちらに来ます。わたしの　かぞくが　こちらに　きます。)

I can’t wait to see everyone in the summer. – Natsu ni minnani aerunoga machido-shii desu.(夏にみんなに会えるのが待ち遠しいです。なつに　みんなにあえるのが　まちどおしいです。)

See you again at the end of Summer. – Natsuno owari ni mata aoune! (夏の終わりにまた会おうね。なつの　おわりに　また　あおうね。)
