Sorry, it’s been for a while since I wrote last time. Hope everyone is eager to learn this topic today as I am sure you guys are hungry for a new Japanese material to learn. ๐Ÿ™‚ I am here to give you a quick lesson on some useful expression that you would want to master right away! So, read on~

 

Today’s topic is all about “too much of ~” expression.

In Japanese, we often use ~ใ—ใ™ใŽใ€€๏ผˆใ€œใ—้ŽใŽ๏ผ‰, which means ” too much of ~”. Let’s learn some of these by examples like the ones below.

 

eating too much = tabe sugi, ใŸในใ™ใŽใ€€๏ผˆ้ฃŸใน้ŽใŽ๏ผ‰

drinking too much = nomi sugi, ใฎใฟใ™ใŽใ€€๏ผˆ้ฃฒใฟ้ŽใŽ๏ผ‰

studying too much = benkyo no shisugi, ในใ‚“ใใ‚‡ใ†ใฎใ€€ใ—ใ™ใŽใ€€๏ผˆๅ‹‰ๅผทใฎใ—้ŽใŽ๏ผ‰

running too much = hashi ri sugi, ใฏใ—ใ‚Šใ™ใŽใ€€๏ผˆ่ตฐใ‚Š้ŽใŽ๏ผ‰

joking around too much = fuzake sugi, ใตใ–ใ‘ใ™ใŽใ€€๏ผˆใตใ–ใ‘ใ™ใŽ๏ผ‰

going too far = yari sugi, ใ‚„ใ‚Šใ™ใŽใ€€๏ผˆใ‚„ใ‚Š้ŽใŽ๏ผ‰

reading too much = yomi sugi, ใ‚ˆใฟใ™ใŽใ€€๏ผˆ่ชญใฟ้ŽใŽ๏ผ‰

 

 

Here are some examples how you can apply the above expressions in sentences.

 

You ate too much today.

Anata kyo tabe sugi dayo.

ใ‚ใชใŸ๏ผŒใใ‚‡ใ†ใฏใ€€ใŸในใ™ใŽใ ใ‚ˆใ€‚

ใ‚ใชใŸ๏ผŒไปŠๆ—ฅ๏ผŒ้ฃŸใน้ŽใŽใ ใ‚ˆใ€‚

 

I drank too much last night, so I am not feeling well.

Kinou no yoru nomisugite kibunga warui.

ใใฎใ†ใฎใ‚ˆใ‚‹ใ€€ใฎใฟใ™ใŽใฆใ€€ใใถใ‚“ใŒใ€€ใ‚ใ‚‹ใ„ใ€‚

ๆ˜จๆ—ฅใฎๅคœใ€€้ฃฒใฟ้ŽใŽใฆใ€€ๆฐ—ๅˆ†ใŒๆ‚ชใ„ใ€‚

 

I studied too much this morning, and my eyes hurt.

Kesa benkyo shisugite mega itai.

ใ‘ใ•ใ€€ในใ‚“ใใ‚‡ใ†ใ€€ใ—ใ™ใŽใฆใ€€ใ‚ใŒใ€€ใ„ใŸใ„ใ€‚

ไปŠๆœ๏ผŒๅ‹‰ๅผทใ—้ŽใŽใฆใ€€็›ฎใŒใ€€็—›ใ„ใ€‚

 

I ran too much, and my legs hurt.

Hashirisugite ashiga itai.

ใฏใ—ใ‚Šใ™ใŽใฆใ€€ใ‚ใ—ใŒใ€€ใ„ใŸใ„๏ผŒ

่ตฐใ‚Š้ŽใŽใฆ๏ผŒ่ถณใŒใ€€็—›ใ„ใ€‚

 

Be careful not to go too far.

Yari sugi naiyลni kiotsukete.

ใ‚„ใ‚Šใ™ใŽใชใ„ใ€€ใ‚ˆใ†ใซใ€€ใใ‚’ใคใ‘ใฆใ€‚

ใ‚„ใ‚Š้ŽใŽใชใ„ใ‚ˆใ†ใซใ€€ๆฐ—ใ‚’ใ€€ไป˜ใ‘ใฆใญใ€‚

 

I read too much of the sad news, and now I feel depressed.

Kana shii nyลซsu o yomisugite, gakkari shiteiru.

ใ‹ใชใ—ใ„ใ€€ใƒ‹ใƒฅใƒผใ‚นใ‚’ใ€€ใ‚ˆใฟใ™ใŽใฆใ€€ใŒใฃใ‹ใ‚Šใ€€ใ—ใฆใ„ใ‚‹ใ€‚

ๆ‚ฒใ—ใ„ใ€€ใƒ‹ใƒฅใƒผใ‚นใ‚’ใ€€่ชญใฟ้ŽใŽใฆใ€€ใŒใฃใ‹ใ‚Šใ€€ใ—ใฆใ„ใ‚‹ใ€‚

 

By looking at the examples above, I know most of these sounds so negative.. ย but I guess too much of something is not so great most of the time. Hope you mastered this expression today!
