As a Tourist in Korea – Useful Expression at a Restaurant Posted by Soo on Jun 16, 2014 in Uncategorized
Many Koreans would love to take a unique and special food when they are traveling as a tourist in foreign country. Sometimes people have experience to order wrong food in a restaurant with their poor language skill. Fortunately, I do not think that you will make many mistakes when you order some food in Korea because there are usually pictures of food in a menu so you can just point out to order. I bet, however, you still want to learn how to order some food in Korean.
I am sure that you will hear the first phrase “어서오세요/eo seo o sae yo/ welcome/” when you go to a restaurant in Korea. The second phrase will be “몇분이세요?/ myoec bun e sae yo/how many people in your party?” You may answer “두명이요/ du myung e yo/two (two people)”. After that you can ask to see a menu “메뉴주세요/menu ju sae yo/ please give me a menu.” As I said, you will see some food pictures on the menu, if they do not have it and you are not sure about the food you want to ask “이거무슨음식이에요?/ e geo mu seon eum sik e ae yo/ what kind of food is this?’ I am sure that they will give you explanation as much as they can. Let’s learn some useful phrases and words below.
