Beautiful Beaches! Posted by on Jan 27, 2011 in Uncategorized

Right now it’s the winter season in South Korea. Oh how I wish the spring season would come soon! Thinking of spring made me think of what I would do when the spring season rolls along. The first thing I would do is to go to as many Korean beaches as possible. Have any of you been to any Korean beaches? If not, let me show you some my favorite beaches:

Haeundae (해운대) is a popular tourist beach with many foreigners. This is because Haeundae is easy to get to with convenient rail and subway lines. In the first week of January, there is a commercial event called “Polar Bear Club”. Supposedly the first week of January is one of the colder weeks on Haeundae, and businesses market this week with special deals to attract tourists to the beach.

Gwangalli Beach (광안리해수욕장) attracts a younger crowd than Haeundae. If you like the nightlife, than you’ll find that the Gwangalli area will be to your taste. At night, Gwangalli Beach is a beautiful place, with lights that light up the sky. On New Years, crowds gather to see an elaborate fireworks display.

Jungmun Beach (중문해수욕장) is a popular surfing destination for surfing aficionados. Jungmun Beach is located in the city of Seogwipo (서귀포) on Jeju Island (제주도), while the other two beaches discussed in the previous paragraphs are located in Busan (부산). Every year there is an annual event called a “Penguin Swim” where visitors clamor to rush into the cold waters like penguins.
