Jindo Arirang Posted by on Apr 4, 2011 in Korean Language

There are a couple of Korean folk songs that are called Arirang (아리랑). One Arirang song in particular that we will listen to is the Jindo Arirang (진도 아리랑). The Jindo Arirang is from Jindo Country (진도군) and is one of my favorite Arirang songs. If you’re wondering what Arirang means, it’s a name of an old mountain pass.

Chorus: (1) & (2)

만경 창파에 두둥둥 (mangyung changpaeh doodoongdoong ddun be)

Chorus: (1) & (2)

This is another version of the Jindo Arirang. You’ll find that the chorus is the same  as the first version of the Jindo Arirang song. I like this version because it features male singers. It’s quite rare to hear male performers singing in the traditional Korean style of singing, so enjoy!

In the second video at 1:13 doesn’t she say 사네? What means 사세? It is same like 사세요 (please live like 둥글둥글)? Or is the way they say 사네 in jindo area?

I like the version with 호박. I think before that was a version with 개똥. Bleah!

Can everyone give me Lyrics of some Arirang version.
But the lyrics is like. 간다 간다 and i don’t know what the next.
Can everyone help me please. Thank you before

  4. jae hwan:

사세 means “let’s live ~” as “let’s live peacefully”
    사네 means “live”

    I’m a Jindo native.
