There are some major Korean festivals in the month of December.  Let’s take a look at some :

Starting from December 17th, the Yeongdong Dried Persimmon Festival will be held in Yeondong County (영동군). Yeongdong Country is known for its persimmons. Dongji  (동지) is a winter solstice festival that is rarely celebrated in South Korea. In North Korea, it’s a big deal. If you watch the video, there is a mass spectacle prepared for Dongji in North Korea. Dongji is the day when the sunshine is weakest and the day is shortest. The people believe that after Dongji, there will be days with longer hours of sunlight.

Guryongpo Specialty Festival will take place on the nineteenth of December in Pohang City (포항시). Pohang is a major seaport and is known for its gwamegi (과메기). Gwamegi is a type of fish called Pacific saury. The Guryongpo Specialty Festival will highlight various Korean dishes using gwamegi. Here is a video advertising the festival :
