Korean Verb Endings: 지, 죠 Posted by on Jan 4, 2016 in Uncategorized

Today,  you are going to learn one of useful verb ending in Korean. In the video below has good examples you can practice and study. I just want to add more explanation that 지 is expression of talk down, so you can use it only to your friend or young children. However, 죠 is abbreviation of 지요 (요 form is casual honorific), so it is good to use in any time with any people. I strongly recommend you to use 죠 instead of 지 when you talk with stranger or old people. 지/죠 is requesting a confirmation. For instance…

The answer is #2, right? 답이 2 번 이죠, 맞죠?

To be right 맞다 – 맞지요 – 맞죠?

To be delicious 맛있다 – 맛있지요- 맛있죠?

To (go) went – 갔다 – 갔지요 – 갔죠?

To (eat) ate – 먹었다 – 먹었지요 – 먹었죠?

As I said that is requesting a confirmation, so it should be past tense when you use action verbs. Make you own sentences and send me your questions.
