Today you will learn second way to say “Only/뿐/bboon” in Korean “Noun + 뿐이다/Verb stem + ㄹ/을 뿐이다”. This is not high frequency when Korean speak, but it is useful to know for your other skills such a reading or listening.   Please see some examples to understand how to use it.

주머니에 천원뿐이다/ I have only $1 in my pocket.                                          *주머니 = pocket

가진 건 시간뿐이다/ Time is only I have.

주차장에는 차량 두 대 뿐이다/there are only two cars on the parking lot.  *주차장 = parking lot

일년에 한번 뿐인 시간이다/The time that’s only once a year.

 

“v.s+-ㄹ/을 뿐이다” “이다 +ㄹ뿐이다”

그 친구는 먹을 뿐 아무 말이 없다/ The friend is only eating without talking.

난 그저 윗부분이 필요했을 뿐이다/ I only needed the top part.

시간과 돈 낭비일 뿐이다/ It is only wasted of time and money. (낭비이다 = 낭비일 뿐이다)
