You are going to learn how to say “How to” in Korean.  In the previous post, you learned “v.s. ㄹ/을 줄 알다/모르다”, but today your are going to learn another way to say “How to” in Korean.  The grammar point is “어떻게 v.s. + 는지 알다/모르다”. If you know, you use 알다. If you don’t know, you use 모르다”. Please read examples below.

I know how to read Korean.  저는 한국어를 어떻게 읽는지 알아요/jeo nun han kook eo lul eo ddeo ke il nun ji al a yo (읽다 is to read).

I don’t know how to read Korean. 저는 한국어를 어떻게 읽는지 몰라요/jeo nun han kook eo lul eo ddeo ke il nun ji mol la yo (모르다 become 몰라요 with 요 form).

Do you know how to read Korean? 한국어를 어떻게 읽는지 알아요?/ han kook eo lul eo ddeo ke il num ji al a yo?

I know how to swim. 저는 수영을 어떻게 하는지 알아요/ jeo nun su young eul eo ddeo ke ha nun ji al a yo/ (수영하다 is to swim).

I don’t know how to swim. 저는 수영을 어떻게 하는지 몰라요/ jeo nun so young eul eo ddeo ke ha nun ji mol la yo.

Do you know how to swim?  수영을 어떻게 하는지 알아요?/ su young eul eo ddeo ke ha nun ji al a yo?

I know how to ride a bicycle.  저는 자전거를 어떻게 타는지 알아요/jeo nun ja jeon lul eo ddeo ke ta nun ji al a yo (타다 is to ride).

I don’t know how to ride a bicycle. 저는 자전거를 어떻게 타는지 몰라요/ jeo nun ja jeon geo lul eo ddeo ke ta nun ji mol la yo.

Do you know how to ride a bicycle? 자전거를 어떻게 타는지 알아요?/ ja jeon geo lul eo ddeo ke ta nun ji al a yo?
