Shall we…? in Korean (Part 2) Posted by on Feb 29, 2016 in Uncategorized

Last week you had learned how to say “Shall we?” in Korean and the grammar point is “V.S. + (을/ㄹ) 까요?” In Korean “을 까요” can be meaning of “Could”, not shall we. For instance, Could it rain tomorrow?/ 내일 비가 올까요?/ bi ga ol ka yo/.  Therefore, it is expression of wondering something. Please read the examples below and think about how 을 까요 is different from the last week.

To eat 먹다

먹다 + 을(ㄹ) 까요 = 먹을까요?     *Could my dog eat vegetable?/ 제 개가 야채를 먹을까요?

To watch 보다

보다 + 을(ㄹ) 까요 = 볼까요?  * Could my girlfriend watch a scary movie?/ 제 여자 친구가 무서운 영화를 볼까요?

To go 가다

가다 + 을(ㄹ) 까요 = 갈까요?  *Could my boyfriend go to America next year?/ 제 남자 친구가 내년에 미국에 갈까요?

To stop 그만하다

그만하다 + 을(ㄹ) 까요 = 그말할까요?  *Could my son stop doing computer game? 제 아들이 컴퓨터 게임을 그만할까요?

To rest 쉬다

쉬다 + 을(ㄹ) 까요  = 쉴까요?   *Could the company I work for take rest on Christmas? 회사가 크리스마스에 쉴까요?

***Vegetable 야채, Movie 영화, Scary 무서운
