What do you think of when you hear the lines,

“Generals gathered in their masses

Just like witches at black masses…”

That’s right, this is the lyrics to a Black Sabbath song called ‘War Pigs’. It’s nothing new when it comes to combining Latin with metal music, but the band Rondellus takes it further by covering Black Sabbath songs in Latin. Here is their version of ‘War Pigs’ in Latin:

The members of Rondellus are natives of Estonia and are classically trained to play instruments from the 14th century. If you’ve ever wondered what Black Sabbath would have sounded like in the 14th century, the song ‘Solitudo’ (Solitude) may be a good indication:

If I didn’t know any better I would have thought the original Black Sabbath song ‘Planetarum Vagatio’ (Planet Caravan) was a sweet lullaby:
