Latin Found in Modern Entertainment Posted by on Apr 4, 2011 in Uncategorized

Just the other day, someone showed me some interesting ways that Latin is still used today. Yes, it’s used in the arena of music and entertainment, but that doesn’t belittle the fact that it’s still being used.

For instance, did you know that one of the soundtracks to a role playing video game called “Final Fantasy” has a song called “Somnus Nemoris”? Never in my imagination could I fathom that I would find a song in Latin used in a video game. That’s pretty neat!

Then I found out that there was a Latin song in a video game called Super Smash Bros. Brawl. To my understanding it’s a Nintendo game that is kind of like the updated version of Super Mario Bros. If anything it shows that Latin is not just for the books, it’s everywhere. It’s the sign of the modern age.

If you look around you can find some songs in Latin that are used in Japanese cartoons called anime. The name of this anime is called “Noir”, and this particular song on its soundtrack is called “Salva Nos”. I don’t know the premise of the anime or how the song fits in, but take a look:
