Camping in Norway Posted by kari on Aug 14, 2010
I just got back from my first fjelltur (literally, mountain trip) in Nord-Norge and was it ever fantastisk! We really should have gotten moving long before we did, but so goes it. We were just on our way up at about 9pm when we remembered we had forgotten to take kaffe and matpakker (lunch bags)…
Picking berries in Norway Posted by kari on Aug 10, 2010
Oh how I love to plukke bær (pick berries). Believe it or not, I refused to eat frukt (fruit) up until college. It was something about the texture that I absolutely despised. To this day, I will never understand how I went 18 years without liking frukt. I drank fruktjus (fruit juice), but that´s certainly…

Norway and Russia agree in Barents Sea Posted by kari on Apr 28, 2010
For mange tiår (decades) Norway and Russia have argued over ownership of 175,000 sq. km. in Barentshavet (the Barents Sea). You might be wondering what the big deal is about Barentshavet. It’s just water, right? No, it’s money, and lots of it. Tens of billions of barrells of olje (oil) and 1-3 of the world’s…
