As many of you know, the United States Government issues 50,000 permanent Green Cards every year through the Diversity Immigrant Visa Program, the Green Card Lottery (Loteria zielonej karty).
Applicants are selected randomly by a computer generated drawing. Successful participants of the Diversity Visa Lottery enjoy all the advantages and benefits of a US permanent resident, including health and education benefits, and employment opportunities. Successful participants of the US Visa Lottery can also become US citizens if they so desire.
There are number of countries that are eligible to enter the lottery. After six years, Poles are again eligible to participate in the visa lottery again.
Out of 50,000 Green Cards issued to people from all over the world, 3,500 are allocated to Polish citizens. Green Card applications must be submitted online no later than November 5.
There are a lot websites that are fake and try to get money from you for “entering the lottery”. Do not trust any websites like that. The only site you can enter is http://www.usadiversitylottery.com/
Have any of you won this lottery in the past?
Do następnego razu… (Till next time…)

Bob @ HealthyMeansYou:
One of my colleagues at work won the green card along with her husband.
Few of my friends are going to be submitting applications.
That’s great that you provided a valid link.
Thank you

I am wondering if a green card for the US is as valuable as it was before?
Thomas:
Last time this lottery was offered – to my wife, I did not participate. I had heard so many stories about relatives of people here not being able to get in that I decided that she could get her green card through being married to me and applying for change of status. Which we did. I figured that would leave one more spot in the lottery open for another Pole. For the longest time it seemed that INS have a bias against eastern Europeans.
