Amazing cars made out of scrap metal in Poland! Posted by Kasia on Jul 6, 2017 in Culture, Places to visit
We all know that recycling is good. We all should do it! And just imagine how many awesome things we can make out of recycled materials! I always look for different things to recycle around the house. Most of the time to make arts and crafts with my girls:)
In the 1990s Pruszków earned the reputation of a mob town. After it became public knowledge that one of Poland’s mafia bosses operated from there, the name became synonymous with organised crime. However, the legendary Pruszków mafia has long been dismantled by the authorities, and the small suburban town is no longer considered outlaw territory.
In fact Pruszków is experiencing a renaissance and has recently started making a new name for itself on the art scene. Mariusz Olejnik, who runs a local scrapyard, came up with the prodigious idea of making sculptures by recycling metal from his business. His Gallery of Steel Figures ( Galeria Figur Stalowych) now has over 70 exhibits and is rapidly growing in popularity.
Large group of artists (50 of them) were scrapping it again, and they created luxury car models such as Mercedes-Benz 300SL, Bugatti Vayron, Maserati GranTurismo and Lamborghini. What they did is very impressive! Each replica includes steel interiors and even functional doors that open and close that are completely made of recycled steel.
It took five years to complete the project, and I bet most of you will agree that cars look amazing:
