It’s the last day of January and today I have a great poem about January:

“Styczeń” – Ficowski Jerzy

Nowy Rok zawitał wreszcie 
stary sobie poszedł. 
Co tam rośnie w mrozach stycznia? 
Dzień rośnie po trosze! 
Wróbelkowi serce rośnie, 
że wiosny doczeka, 
chociaż jeszcze droga do niej 
mroźna i daleka. 
Rosną w styczniu zaspy śniegu, 
że wóz w nich ugrzęźnie 
a na szybach rosną srebrne 
liście i gałęzie. 
Więc na inne pory roku, 
nie patrzy zazdrośnie 
mroźny styczeń: bo w nim także 
mnóstwo rzeczy rośnie!

New Year finally arrived
old one went away.
What’s growing in the big freeze in January?
Day grows a little!
Sparrows’ heart grows
that he will live to see the spring,
even though the road to it
cold and distant.
Snow drifts grow in January,
that the car gets stuck in them
and on the windows grow silver
with frost leaves and branches.
So not looking at other seasons jealously,
frosty January, because he also
has a lot of things growing!
