The Teachers’ Day Posted by Kasia on Oct 14, 2011 in Culture, Current News
On this day the teachers are rewarded by their principals, and students give them flowers and gifts.
Working conditions of teachers in Poland improved recently. Schools are better equipped, and there are less students in classes. Classes are smaller, on average in primary schools there are around 20 children in the classroom.
However, the demographic problem may be the biggest challenge of the coming years. In Poland there is still over half a million teachers, while the number of students in schools has decreased by more than one million.

About the Author: Kasia
My name is Kasia Scontsas. I grew near Lublin, Poland and moved to Warsaw to study International Business. I have passion for languages: any languages! Currently I live in New Hampshire. I enjoy skiing, kayaking, biking and paddle boarding. My husband speaks a little Polish, but our daughters are fluent in it! I wanted to make sure that they can communicate with their Polish relatives in our native language. Teaching them Polish since they were born was the best thing I could have given them! I have been writing about learning Polish language and culture for Transparent Language’s Polish Blog since 2010.

Maybe the standards improved, but not the students.
In the modern society, kids are do have as much respect towards teachers as they had back in my days. They play their smartphones instead of paying attention to the class.
