A Brazilian in Bollywood Posted by on May 7, 2008 in Brazilian News

Who knew that a Brazilian model could become a Bollywood muse?

Bruna Abdalah, 21, of Guaíba, Rio Grande do Sul, became a Ford model at age 15 and decided to pursue her career in order to buy her parents a house. She then went on to model in Japan, Thailand, and the Philippines, and was able to achieve her dream.

After that, she became a VJ, a TV commercial actress, and a runway model in an unexpected place: India. A Southern Brazilian of Syrian descent, many people told her she looked Indian. She recently broke into Bollywood by performing in a dance scene in a big movie by Anubhav Sinha.

Despite interest from producers to put her in more movies, Bruna doesn’t feel ready to act. After two years in India, she’s still learning Hindi and is taking Indian dance classes. There are rumors, however, that she may star in a film by the end of the year. In the meantime, she has already become wildly popular.
