Hebe Camargo was one of the biggest icons in Brazilian television. She was an actress, singer, TV show host and was considered “the queen of Brazilian television”. Hebe passed away due to cardiac arrest on the morning of September 29, 2012. She was 83.
Hebe started her career in the 40s with her sister Estela, but she left her musical career to devote more time to radio and television in the “golden age”. Her longest running career as an interviewer was in TV channel SBT, where she interview big names of the music and TV industry, both from Brazil and international stars like Mariah Carey, Placido Domingo, Gloria Estefan, Ricky Martin, Gloria Gaynor and Dionne Warwick.
Hebe will be deeply missed by her Brazilian fans, like myself, who were used to her contagious laughter, snide remarks to politicians before each TV show and unwaivering good humor every Monday evening.
Adeus, Hebe! Agora o céu ficou mais alegre com a sua chegada!
