Hi! Are you excited for the weekend?

Let’s finish our September posts with something that happens to all us: problems at home! I’m talking about things like a toilet getting clogged up or your radiator is not working well. Let’s learn how to talk about this in Portuguese!

Here are some useful sentences:

A pia da cozinha está entupida.
The kitchen sink is clogged.

A privada / O vaso está entupida(o).
The toilet is clogged.

Não consigo dar descarga.
I can’t seem to flush the toilet.

O elevador / A máquina de lavar roupa está quebrado(a).
The elevator / washing machine is broken.

A torneira está pingando muito.
The faucet is dripping badly.

A torneira está vazando.
The faucet is leaking.

O ralo está com problema.
There’s something wrong with the drain.

O ar condicionado / o aquecedor não está funcionando bem.
The air conditioning / the heating is not working well.

Há uma infiltração no teto.
There’s a leak in the ceiling.

Tenho que desentupir a pia / o vaso.
I have to unclog the sink / the toilet.

É melhor chamar o encanador.
We’d better call a plumber.

Temos que mandar pintar as paredes.
We need to have the walls painted.

Tem que consertar o piso.
The floor needs to be fixed.

Parece que tem um vazamento de gás.
There seems to be a gas leak.
