After successfully hosting the Copa do Mundo de Futebol (Soccer World Cup) last year, Brazil is also hosting the 2016 Jogos Olímpicos which will take place in Rio de Janeiro, the amazing Brazilian city also known as “Cidade Maravilhosa” (marvellous city). Rio was given this nickname due to a song which became some kind of anthem for Rio, written and composed by André Filho and arranged by Silva Sobreira in 1935 for the Carnaval in Rio:

Even though the Copa do Mundo de Futebol brought many tourist to Brazil, the Jogos Olímpicos will bring people from all over the world, since 10,500 atletas (athletes) from 205 países (countries) are participating on it – much more than the 32 countries who played in the Copa do Mundo de Futebol in 2014.
