In this Spanish lesson we are going to practice using some popular colloquial Spanish expressions. As usual, first we will review some relevant grammar and vocabulary and then see if you can follow a short listening.

This lesson is part of a Spanish course that practices the grammar and vocabulary first introduced in my Advanced Spanish course posted here on the Transparent Language blog. Let’s test your listening comprehension and see if you can understand a short audio in Spanish. The transcript to the audio will be given at the end of the post but please try not to look at it until you have tried playing and understanding the audio a few times.

Natalia: Lewis ¿qué te parece Armando el nuevo profesor de historia?

Lewis: Uf, no sé. Habla un poco raro, ¿no?

Natalia: Sí, la verdad es que se le entiende a duras penas.

Lewis: Yo voy a su clase de mala gana. Me aburre mucho.

Natalia: Ya, bueno. ¿Has leído el libro que nos recomendó? Yo me lo terminé ayer.

Lewis: Qué rápido ¿no?

Natalia: Es que es super interesante. Me lo he leído de cabo a rabo en dos días.

Lewis: Pues yo me lo estoy leyendo a regañadientes. No me gusta mucho la historia la verdad.

Natalia: Ya me he dado cuenta. Te he visto hacer pasatiempos a hurtadillas en la clase de historia. Algún día Armando te pillará.

Lewis: Y tú me defenderás ¿no? Eres su alumna favorita, seguro.

Natalia: Claro, hombre. Te defenderé a capa y espada. Pero si te pilla con los pasatiempos no hay mucho que defender, la verdad.

Lewis: Es que no me gusta estudiar a la fuerza.

Natalia: Es que elegiste la asignatura a ciegas.

Lewis: Ya, pensaba que sería interesante. Pero he cambiado de opinión.

Natalia: Bueno, el año que viene piensa bien lo que quieres estudiar y no elijas a tontas y a locas.

Lewis: Vale Natalia.
