¡Hola a todos!

Hoy vamos a practicar unas expresiones que se usan mucho en español. Today we are going to practice some useful Spanish expressions of confirmation, supposition, surprise and concern.

Answers to all tasks involved in this lesson will be given at the end of the post and you can also follow a link with this post to watch the original theory video lesson on the same topic.

Intermediate theory video lesson 6

1. First let´s practice the Spanish expressions of confirmation. I will say some of the expressions in Spanish and I would like you to tell me what they mean in English:

Estoy seguro/a
Sin ninguna duda
¡Por supuesto!
¡Hombre, claro!
¡Sí, sí!

Now from English to Spanish:

What are you talking about?
No way!
Sure
Never!
Very sure

2. Let´s see next if you remember the Spanish expressions of supposition. I will say an expression and you have to tell me if you would use it when you are describing high, medium or low probability:

Supongo que
Me imagino que
A lo mejor
Creo que
Seguro que
Quizás
Posiblemente
Pienso que
Seguramente
Me parece que

3. Now tell me what expressions of surprise you remember from the original video lesson. How do you say “How odd!” or “How strange!!” for example?

4. Finally, we will practice the Spanish expressions that are used to express concern. I will say a situation in Spanish and I would like you to say an expression that shows your concern.

“¿Dónde está Fernando? Ya son las diez y todavía no está en casa.”

And what would you say to calm the worried person down?

Bueno, pues ya hemos terminado la clase de hoy.

I hope you have enjoyed practicing these very useful Spanish expressions. I recommend you to try to use them when you are speaking with a native speaker as this is the best way to remember them.

¡Que tengáis una fantástica semana!
