Hey, there! ¿Cómo les va todo?

Let’s review some means of transportation en español, shall we? The preposition used with most means of transportation in Spanish is en and there is also some cases with the preposition a.

Let’s check them out!

el avión – plane
en avión – by plane

la bicicleta, la bici – bicycle
en bicicleta, en bici – by bicycle

el barco – boat
en barco – by boat

el bus, el autobús – bus
en bus, en autobús – by bus

Note: The bus has several different names in Latin American Spanish: liebre (small bus – Chile), camión (Mexico), colectivo (Argentina), among others. When in doubt, use bus or autobús

el coche, el carro, el auto – car
en coche, en carro, en auto – by car

la motocicleta, la moto – motorbycle
en motocicleta, en moto – by motorcycle

el metro – subway
en metro – by subway

el taxi – taxi
en taxi – by taxi

el tren – train
en tren – by train

There are two cases where the preposition a is used, when you go on foot or on horseback.

el pie – foot
a pie – on foot

el caballo – horse
a caballo – on horseback
