Conjunctions are used to link clauses and establish a specific relationship like adversity, addition, disconnection, etc. Veamos algunas de las más comunes en español.

Aunque sea tarde, voy a ver aquella película.Although it’s late, I will watch that movie.
A pesar de que están cansados, siempre salen a caminar.Despite being tired, they always go for a walk.

La fiesta es muy buena, pero necesito irme. – The party is great, but I have to go.
No son maestros, sino estudiantes. – They’re not teachers, but students.
Los muchachos quieren ir al cine, sin embargo/no obstante, necesitan que sus padres los lleven. – The kids want to go to the movies; however, they need their parents to drive them.

Aquí tenemos vino y cerveza. – Here we have wine and beer.
Aquí no tenemos ni vino, ni cerveza. – Here we have neither wine, nor beer.
Le pregunté si quería vino o cerveza. – I asked him whether he wanted wine or beer.

Te ayudo porque soy tu amigo. – I help you because I’m your friend.
Te ayudo, puesto que soy tu amigo. – I help you, given that I’m your friend.
Ya que eres mi amigo, ayúdame. Since you’re my friend, help me.
Los padres siempre hacen lo posible para que sus hijos sean felices. – Parents do their best so that their children are happy.
Redujeron el precio del coche para que más gente lo pudiera comprar. – They reduced the price of the car in order for more people to be able to buy it.
