Today we’re having a look at the second part of the vocabulary used at the workplace. It’s not a very comprehensive list but it’s going to tide you over for the moment, ok?

dar preaviso – to give notice

Renunciar a un puesto sin dar preaviso es una actitud poco profesional.
Quitting a job without giving notice is not a professional attitude.

compensaciones / retribuciones adicionales – perks, extra benefits
plan de jubilación – retirement plan

Las compensaciones adicionales incluyen un auto y seguro médico.
The perks include a car and medical insurance.

Entre las compensaciones adicionales la compañía también ofrece a sus empleados un plan de jubilación privado.
Among the perks the company offers its employees a private retirement plan.

oportunidades de ascenso / promoción – promotion opportunities

Las compañías grandes normalmente ofrecen más oportunidades de ascenso que las pequeñas.
Big companies usually offer more promotion opportunities than small ones.

plan de carrera – career plan

El plan de carrera que ofrece esa empresa es realmente interesante.
The career plan that this company offers is really interesting.

postular-se a un empleo – to apply for a job
postulante / candidato – candidate
puesto – position

Reúnes las cualificaciones requeridas para el puesto. Deberías postularte.
You have the necessary qualifications for the position. You should apply for it.

La mayoría de los postulantes que entrevistamos hasta ahora no está cualificada para el puesto.
Most the candidates we have interviewed so far is not qualified for the position.

puestos vacantes – available positions

No sé si esta empresa tiene puestos vacantes en este momento.
I don’t know if this company has available positions at this moment.

historial personal / currículo / curriculum vitae – résumé, CV

Envíenos su currículo por e-mail.
E-mail us your résumé.

jubilarse – to retire
jubilado – retired

El Sr. Gómez hijo asumió la dirección general cuando el Sr. Gómez padre se jubiló.
Mr. Gómez junior took over the general management when Mr. Gómez senior retired.
