Bamse – världens snällaste och starkaste björn Posted by on Mar 1, 2011 in Culture

The kindest of all bears in Sweden is Bamse. He is a bear of Swedish children’s literature, children from a young age read, watch or listen to adventures he and his friends have.

Bamse is originally a comic book, so there are a lot of stories about him and his friends. But they were soon made into films and computer games along with all the fan-artifacts.

The main character is of course Bamse, his best friends are Lille Skutt (Little Hop) the rabbit and Skalman the turtle. Lille Skutt is afraid of everything, but when he gets angry he sure can give a piece of his mind. Skalman is an inventor but he always does everything at a really slow pace and when he has to take his naps there is no waking him up. Many a time have Bamse and Lille Skutt needed Skalmans help but he has been sleeping.

There is also a theme song for Bamse and his adventures, one that most children about 10 or 15 years ago definitively knew by heart. There is of course a villain, Vargen! (the wolf) though he is far from evil, mostly just lonely. For Bamse to be able to save his friends and neighbors in need he eats his grandmothers “Dunder honung”. (Super duper, thunder honey). But as with all miracle potions, they wear off, usually leaving Bamse in a sticky situation.
