Loreen goes to the Eurovision Grand Final! Posted by on May 25, 2012 in Culture

All of us in 30-degree (86 Fahrenheit) Sweden are very proud of our winner of Melodifestivalen, Sweden’s contest to choose its entry in the Europe-wide Eurovision Song Contest, and her continuous success with her song “Euphoria“. Last night, Loreen was voted by 50% jury and 50% televoting to go to the Grand Final, scheduled for tomorrow, 26 May 2012. Loreen will be competing with artists from 25 other countries to win the contest and Sweden its first chance to host the contest since 2000, the year following Charlotte Nilsson’s (now known as Charlotte Perrelli) victory with her song, Take Me to Your Heaven (or the Swedish title, Tusen och en natt), in Jerusalem, Israel.

Here is a recording of Loreen’s performance in Baku, Azerbaijan last night:

Sweden as a whole remains very confident in Loreen. We will be rooting for her until the very end!

What do all of you think? Does Loreen have a chance of winning the contest?

Her song appealed to me, like the best in me was encouraged.
