رِحلة عُمر

تَعيش نُهى مع عائِلَتُها الصَّغيرة في ولاية ميشيغان. زوجها أحمد يَمْلُك مَطْعماً للمأكولات ًالشَّرقية. ابنها عُمر يَدْرُس الهندسة، ويُساعِد أبيه في المَطعَم في شهورالصَّيف. يوماً مِن الأيام، قال أحمد لابنه، “حاوِل أن تُنَسِق رِحلة إلى عَمان لِترى خالَتُك وأبناء خالَتُك.” قال عُمر، “هذه فِكرة رائِعة يا أبي، آخر مَرة سافَرتُ إلى عمان كان قبل سنتين.” بَعَدَ ذلِك، خَطَطَ عمر أن يُسافر إلى الشَّرق الأوسط ثاني جُّمعة من شَهر يوليو لزيارة خالته أميرة وأولادها علي وأمل الذين يعيشون في الأردن. يتمنى عمر أن يزور لُبنان ومَصر أيضاً. رِحلة الطيران مِن ديترويت إلى عمان سَتَكون طويلة وصعبة، لكن عمر لا يستطيع الإنتظار حتى يأتي يوم سفره

شقة أميرة في عمان كبيرة وواسِعة. فيها أربعة غُرَف وحمامَين. هُناك حديقة صغيرة جَنْب العَمارة فيها شَجَر وزهور حَمراء و قِطَط كثيرة. خالته أميرة مَعروفة بِتَحضير الَّذ الحلويات العربية. ابنَتُها أمَل تعمل كَمُديرة لِعيادة طبيب أسنان. ابنُها علي عنده مَوَاهِب عَديدة مِثْل العَزف ويعمل كأستاذ في مَرْكِز موسيقى يُعَلِم العَزف على آلة العود

Translation: Omar’s Trip

Noha lives with her small family in Michigan. Her husband Ahmed owns a Middle Eastern food restaurant. Her son Omar is studying engineering, and helps his father with the restaurant during the summer months. One day, Ahmed said to his son, “Try to arrange a trip to Amman to see your aunt and cousins.” “That is a great idea, Dad,” Omar said. “The last time I traveled to Amman was two years ago.” After that, Omar planned to travel to the Middle East on the second Friday of July to visit his aunt Amira and her children Ali and Amal, who live in Jordan. Omar wishes to visit Lebanon and Egypt as well. The flight from Detroit to Amman will be long and difficult, but Omar can’t wait for the day he travels. Amira’s apartment in Amman is large and spacious. It has four rooms and two bathrooms. There is a small garden next to the building with trees, red flowers and many cats. His aunt Amira is known for preparing the most delicious Arabic sweets. Her daughter, Amal, works as a manager at a dentist’s office. Her son Ali has many talents such as playing music and works as a teacher at a music center where he teaches how to play the oud instrument.
