Marhaba! Archaeologists have just discovered yet another gem from one of the world’s most important centers of civilization: an ancient and historic tomb in southern Egypt. And again another captivating surprise from one of the greatest states in the world. Just take a moment to think about such a discovery and the probable origins of these ruins which emerge from thousands and thousands of years ago. Given my fascination with such surprising and captivating discoveries, specifically from a place such as Egypt in the Arab world, I am sharing an important article and relevant pictures from BBC Arabic on this latest archeological discovery. Similar to the content and purpose of other comprehension exercises, this is another reading comprehension exercise. After presenting the article, I have some questions for you to answer. I am certain that these comprehension exercises are helping you practice Arabic.

اكتشاف مقبرة أثرية عمرها 5600 سنة في جنوب مصر
قالت وزارة الآثار المصرية إن الآثاريين اكتشفوا مقبرة تاريخية يبلغ عمرها نحو 5600 سنة بمحافظة أسوان جنوب مصر.
وتضم قبرا ومومياء ترجع إلى ما قبل الأسرة الفرعونية الأولى، مما يعطي لهذا الاكتشاف أهمية كبيرة في إلقاء الضوء على فترة ما قبل الأسرات الفرعونية.
وأوضح وزير الآثار المصري الدكتور محمد إبراهيم أن هذا الكشف جاء نتيجة للأعمال التي تجريها البعثة الآثارية الانجليزية بالتعاون مع وزارة الاثار المصرية.
وقالت وزارة الآثار المصرية في بيان أصدرته إن القبر بني قبل حكم الملك نعرمر مؤسس الأسرة الأولى والذي وحد قطري مصر )الوجهين القبلي والبحري) في القرن الـ 31 قبل الميلاد.
واكتشفت المقبرة في منطقة الكوم الأحمر بين الأقصر وأسوان، في موقع مدينة هيراكونبوليس الآثرية ، أو مدينة الصقر، التي كانت عاصمة للمملكة في مصر حينها.
وأضاف بيان الوزارة أن الآثاريين وجدوا تمثالا عاجيا لرجل ملتح ومومياء صاحب القبر، الذي بدا أنه قد توفي في أواخر العشرينيات من العمر.
كما عثر الآثاريون على 10 أمشاط عاجية فضلا عن أدوات أخرى ومدي ورؤس سهام.
ويقول رينيه فريدمان رئيس بعثة التنقيب الآثاري “إن القبرالذي حفظ بصورة جيدة، سيقدم معلومات جديدة عن الشعائر التي كانت سائدة في عصر ما قبل الأسرات“.
وكانت قبرا الملك نعرمر والملك كا، وهما من الفراعنة المؤسسين في عصر ما قبل الأسرات ومهدا الطريق لتوحيد مصر في عصر الفراعنة، اكتشفا في مدينة هيراكونبوليس في وقت سابق.
