At the Pharmacy في الصَيْدلِيّة Posted by on Mar 10, 2021 in Arabic Language, Vocabulary

In this post, I thought we’d learn some vocabulary that can help us get what we need from a pharmacy صَيْدلِيّة and how to speak with a pharmacist صَيْدَلي / صَيدلاني. Some of the vocabulary could be used to speak with a doctor طَبيْب as well. We’ll then read and listen to some general information about pharmacies in Arabic and then read and listen to a conversation between a customer زُبون and a صَيْدَلي

A pharmacy is a place where you can get medication. A pharmacy can be in a hospital or separate in its own building.

There are two types of medication at the pharmacy:

Off the shelf medication to cure simple health problems such as a cough, cold, or stomach ache, and medication that needs a prescription such as antibiotics.

The doctor or pharmacist will write how much and how often to take the medication, and if you have any questions about the medication, you can ask the pharmacist, for he is an expert in health care. Some medications have side effects such as sleep and feeling nauseous.
