Grocery Shopping in Arabic Part Two Posted by on Dec 30, 2020 in Arabic Language

In this post, we’ll continue learning more food vocabulary such as تَوابِل/ بَهارات spices, أعشاب herbs and more فَواكِه fruits and خُضار vegetables. We’ll also be looking at a conversation between Dana and her son Bilal at the supermarket. Dana is planning a dinner for some relatives and would like to make مَحْشي الكوسا والباذِنجان stuffed zucchini and eggplant, a traditional Arabic dish. Along with سَلَطة التَبولة tabbouleh salad. She’s going to the supermarket with her son Bilal to pick up all the ingredients. Bilal helps his mom buy everything on her shopping list. I’ve also added videos showing in Arabic how to make مَحْشي الكوسا والباذِنجان and سَلَطة التَبولة. 😊

At the Grocery Store

Dana: Come on Bilal, let’s go to the grocery store.

Bilal: Mom, do you have the list?

Dana: Yes, first the spices. Look for cumin, black pepper and salt please.

Bilal: Here you are mom, should I help you with the vegetables as well?

Dana: Yes, get me a bag of zucchini, small eggplants, lemons, cucumbers, tomatoes, and finally a bunch of parsley and a bunch of mint.

Bilal: Do we need any fruit?

Dana: For dessert, I was thinking of having figs and grapes.

Bilal: I agree, the figs look delicious.

Dana: I think we’re done. We have rice and ground beef at home. Let’s go home and start cooking.
