In a previous post, I presented the recipe for semolina dessert (الهريسة), but I found and tried another recipe which is easier and gives better results. Please find the ingredients and preparation method below:
2 cups of semolina (coarse)
1 table spoon of butter
1 cup of yoghurt
1 spoon of baking powder
½ spoon of bicarbonate
Nuts for decoration
Mix semolina with butter together very well
Add 1 cup of sugar and mix again
Add the yoghurt, baking powder and bicarbonate and mix well
When the mixture is ready, cover it and leave it for 4 hours.
While the dough is getting ready, make syrup with sugar, water and lemon juice.
Cover the inside of a baking tray with butter and put the dough inside.
You can cover the top of the dough with butter and nuts if you like.
Bake in a hot oven at 200 degrees until it is golden and ready.
When it is ready, add the syrup evenly to the dough. Make sure the syrup is hot and the dessert is hot as well. You can add some butter to the syrup for richer taste.
Leave it to set for a couple of hours before you eat.
