     Ahlan, Arabic fans! Did you like the listening comprehension exercise about Ramadan Desserts? How did you score? In today’s post I am going to provide the answers for every one of you to check. Spending Ramadan in any Muslim or Arab country is so special. It is the month of Sawm الــصــيــام (fasting) which is the fourth pillar رُكــْـــن of Islam (You can find more information about the Five Pillars of Islam here). It is the month of spirituality روحــانــيـــة meditation الــتــَّــأمــُّــل and worship الــعــِــبــَــادَة . It is the month of breaking the habits, renewing faith تــَــجــْــديــد الإيــمــَــان and refreshing the soul and heart. It is the month of sharing the feelings of hunger الــجــُــوع and thirst الــعــَــطــَــش with the poor الــفــُــقــَــراء .

  

الإجــَــابــَــات Answers

أشــْــهــَــر أنــْـــواع الــحــَـــلــَــوِيــَّـــات حــَــســَــبْ الــفــِـــيــديــُــو هــِــىَ الــكــُــنــَــافــَـــة       

1) The most famous dessert according to the video is Konafa.

نــَـــعــَـــمْ تــَــتــَــوَافــَـــرْ الــكــُــنــَــافــَـــةُ طــُــولَ الــعــَــامْ ، و تـــَــرْتــَــبــِــط أكــْــثــَـــر بــِــشــَــهــْـــرِ رَمــَــضــَـــان   

2) Yes, Konafa is available all the year and it is related more to the month of Ramadan.

تــَــشــْــتــَــهــِــرْ الــكــُــنــَــافــَـــةُ فـِـى مــِــصــْــرَ و الــبــُــلــْــدَانِ الــعــَــرَبــِــيــَّـــة

3) Konafa is famous in Egypt and Arab countries.

الإســْــمُ الــعــَــربــِــىُّ لــِ بــَــائــِــعِ الــكــُــنــَــافــَــة هــُــوَ “الــكــَــنــَــفــَـــانــِــىّ”  

4) The Arabic name for the Konafa seller is “Al-Kanafani”.

تــُــصــْــنــَــعُ الــكــُــنــَــافــَـــةُ يــَــدَوِيــَّـــًا أو عــَــنْ طــَــريــق الآلــَــة  

5) Konafa is made either manually or by machine.

اِســْــمِ الــحــَــلــْــوى الــثــَــانــِــيــَــةِ الــتـى يــَــتــَــحــَــدَّثُ عــَــنــْــهــَــا الــفــِــيــديــُــو هــُــو الــقــَــطــَــايــِــفْ

مــُــفــْــرَد كــَــلــِــمــَــة “بــُــلــْــدَان” هــُــوَ “بــَــلــَـــد”

مــُــفــْــرَد كــَــلــِــمــَــة “أجــْــوَاء” هــُــو “جــَــوّ”

مــُــفــْــرَد كــَــلــِــمــَــة “اِحــْــتــِــفــَــالات” هــُــو “اِحــْــتــِــفــَــال”  

8) The singular of the word: “أنــْــوَاع”(= types)is “نــَــوْع” 

     The singular of the word “بــُــلــْــدَان”(= countries)is”بــَــلــَـــد

The singular of the word “أجــْــوَاء”(= atmospheres)is”جــَــوّ

The singular of the word “اِحــْــتــِــفــَــالات”(= celebrations)is”اِحــْــتــِــفــَــال

مــُــرادِف كــَــلــِــمــَــة “تــَــوَافــُـــرْ” هــُــوَ “وُجــُـــود / إتــَـــاحــَــة”  

مــُــرادِف كــَــلــِــمــَــة “رَوْنــَـــقْ” هــُــوَ “جــَــمــَــال / بــَــهــَــاء”

مــُــرادِف كــَــلــِــمــَــة “تــَــقــْــتــَــرِنُ” هــُــوَ “تــَــرْتــَــبــِــط”

مــُــرادِف كــَــلــِــمــَــة “شــَــعــْــبــِــيــَّــةٌ” هــُــوَ “شــُــهــْــرَة”

9) The synonym of the word: “ تــَــوَافــُــرْ”(= availability) is”وُجــُـــود / إتــَـــاحــَــة

    The synonym of the word: “ رَوْنــَــق“(= grace) is” بــَــهــَــاء / جــَــمــَــال

    The synonym of the word: “ تــَــقــْــتــَــرِن“(= is related) is” تــَــرْتــَــبــِــط

    The synonym of the word: “شــَــعــْــبــِــيــَّــة“(= popularity) is” شــُــهــْـــرَة    

 تــَـــرْجــَــمــَــة الـجــُــمـْــلــَــة إلـى اللـغــة الإنـجــلـيــزيـة :

10) Translation of the sentence into English:

و إنْ كــَــانــَــتِ الــحــَـــدَاثــَـــةُ قــَــدّ دَخــَــلــَــتْ فــِــى صــِــنــَــاعــَـــة الــكــُــنــَــافــَـــةِ ، إلا أنَّ الــكــُــنــَــافــَـــةَ الــيــَــدَويــَّــةَ مــَــا زَالــَــتْ تــَــحــْــتــَــفــِــظُ بــِــوجــُــودِهــَـــا و رَوْنــَـــقــِــهــَــا .”

“… and even though modernity was used in the making of konafa, manual Konafa still keeps its existence and grace.”
