 * اقرأ القطعة التالية من مقال صحفي للكاتب / صلاح منتصر ، ثم أجب عن الأسئلة :

Read the following passage from an article to the writer Salah Muntasser, then answer the questions:

       أنت سيد قرارك … فبكلمة منك تستطيع أن تخرج من هذا السجن اللعين ، الذي أصبحت فيه عبداً للسيجارة ،  و حقلاً خصباً لكل الكوارث و المصائب التي تفعلها في صدرك ، و قلبك ، و ضغطك ، و مفاصلك ، و أعصابك . و أنا أعرف مدخنين معاندين يصرون على هذه العادة السيئة . و هناك مدخنون يتمنون أن يأتي اليوم الذي يستطيعون فيه التخلص من السيجارة ، و لكنهم في حاجة إلى من يساعدهم و يشجعهم و يدلهم على هذه الوسيلة التي يحققون بها  أملهم .. و المدخنون يعتقدون أن الامتناع عن التدخين مستحيل ، و لكننا نقول لهم: إن مئات الآلاف استطاعوا أن يفعلوا ما يحلمون هم بتحقيقه ، و هو ما يعنى أن الامتناع عن التدخين قد يكون صعباً و لكنه ليس مستحيلاً … و أنت في حاجة إلى أن تكره السيجارة ، فإذا لم يكن من أجلك ، فليكن من أجل أولادك ، و إذا لم يكن من أجل صحتك ، فمن أجل أموالك . ابدأ معنا و امتنع عن السيجارة ، و من بعد غدٍ اكتب شهادة ميلاد جديدة لحياة جديدة عنوانها : الصحة ، و النظافة ، و الجمال .

 أ )  أجب عن الأسئلة التالية     Answer the following questions   

     1-  ما رأيك في التدخين ؟       What do you think of smoking?

                التدخين عادة سيئة ، فهو يجعل الإنسان عبداً للسيجارة كما يصيبه بالعديد من الأمراض .   

     2-  ما الفوائد التي يستمتع بها غير المدخنين ؟  What benefits do nonsmokers enjoy?

                يستمتع غير المدخنين بالصحة و النظافة و الجمال .    

     3- هل الامتناع عن التدخين صعب ؟  Is giving up smoking difficult?    

              لا ، الامتناع عن التدخين ليس صعبا و ليس مستحيلاً

     4- إلى ماذا تحتاج لكي تتوقف عن التدخين ؟  What do need to stop smoking?   

             لكي تتوقف عن التدخين أنت تحتاج إلى أن تكره السيجارة من أجلك و من أجل أولادك و صحتك و أموالك .

 ب ) اختر الإجابة الصحيحة من بين الأقواس  Choose the correct answer from brackets   

      1- جمع ( the plural of )  كلمة “سجن” هو   ( سجون) 

     2- مفرد ( the singular of )  كلمة ” كوارث” هو ( كارثة )

     3- مضاد (the opposite of  ) كلمة ” مستحيل” هو ( ممكن )

     4- معنى ( the meaning of )  كلمة “الامتناع” هو ( التوقف )

     5-  كلمة “السيئة” تنتهي بـ …….   ( كسرة )

 ج ) استخرج من القطعة  Write down from the passage    

1-     فعل أمر (  an Imperative)  = ابدأ / امتنع   

2-     فعل جامد من أخوات كان ( an indecliable Kana sister verb ) = ليس  

3-     اسم إشارة للمذكر ( A demonstrative masculine noun ) = هذا  

4-     اسم إشارة للمكان ( a demonstrative place noun ) = هناك  

5-     مبتدأ و خبر ( a mubtada and a khabar ) = أنت , سيد (قرارك)   

 د ) ترجم القطعة إلى اللغة الانجليزية  Translate the passage into English

     You are the master of your decision … With only one word of yours, you can get out of  this cursed prison in which you have become a slave to the cigarette and a fertile field to all disasters which it does to your chest, heart, pressure, joints and nerves. I have known stubborn smokers who insist on this bad habit. There are also smokers who wish that the day when they could get rid of smoking, would arrive. However, they need a person who can help, encourage and guide them to the best way by which they can achieve what they hope for… Smokers think that giving up smoking is impossible, but we say to them that hundreds and thousands managed to achieve what they themselves are looking for, which means that giving up smoking might be difficult but it is not impossible. You need to hate the cigarette, if not for your own sake, then for the sake of your children and if not for your own health, then for the sake of your money. So, start with us and stop smoking, and the day after tomorrow, write a new birth certificate to a new life entitled; health, cleanliness and beauty
