Typing in Arabic without an Arabic Keyboard Posted by on Mar 16, 2010 in Arabic Language

Want to see your name in Arabic? Want to search in Arabic? There’s a very useful website that everyone learning Arabic should visit. It’s an Arabic search engine, and it allows you to search in Arabic even if you don’t have an Arabic keyboard. It has a really cool feature: Type in anything in your language in the search field, and an auto-suggest menu will roll down and display several forms what your wrote in Arabic. Give it a try: It might be very useful, and it’s also fun to use. Have a look at what your name looks like in Arabic, for example. Find it here: yamli.com

    Hello all:

There is an alternative that I use in my laptop,
In windows you can install different keyboards and also support from languages written right to left. I use the Spanish, English and Arabic (egypt) keyboards and change from one to another by simply pressing Alt+Shift keys.

At the beguinning it is a pain until you learn where the letters are. Once you chose the arabic keyboard, you just type and the arabic caracters are written on a word document for example, and if you have a document in arabic you can use the search, replace etc.
You can mix arabic and english in the same document, a bit tricky at the beguining.

I can help and provide you a mapping on the characters so that you will know exactly where are them.

    Juan
