African Countries in Chinese Posted by on Feb 9, 2016 in Vocabulary

We’ve been learning all the countries around the world in Chinese bit by bit over the past few months. Last month, I also wrote a post on how to talk about “Countries, Nationalities, and Languages” in Chinese. Now we’re heading to the continent with the most countries – Africa (非洲 – fēi zhōu).

There are about 1 million Chinese people who now live in Africa, and trade between China and the continent is expected to be worth upwards of $200 billion. Obviously, the relationship between China and Africa is quite important and growing more so with each passing year. So, what do ordinary Chinese people think of Africa? Check out this interesting video to see what three young Chinese who have never been there think of the continent:

@Peter Simon Whoops. I meant to say continent with the most countries. Thanks for calling me out on that one. It’s been a long couple of weeks with lots of visitors in Bali so I’m a bit fried at the moment!
