If “Willy Wonka and the Chocolate Factory” had been set in France, it would have been about macarons. Colorful and creative, these petits gâteaux (cookies) sont une fantaisie en sucre, a sugary confection of des blancs d’œuf (egg whites), du poudre d’amande (almond flour) et de la crème ou de la confiture dedans (and cream or jam inside).

If le monde des macarons is the French chocolaterie (chocolate factory), then Pierre Hermé is Monsieur Wonka. Je vous ai déjà parlé de (I’ve already talked to you about) Pierre Hermé, mais ce génie des macarons is worth revisiting. (Again and again, if you’re like me.) Sa boutique (his shop) is famous for its felicitous flavor pairings. Vous pouvez voir les parfums actuellement disponibles (you can see the flavors currently available) ici (scroll to the second page). Not just chocolate, this!

Mes parfums préférés chez Hermé sont (my favorite flavors at Hermé are) abricot et pistache, huile d’olive et vanille, et chocolat au lait et fruit de la passion(apricot and pistachio, olive oil and vanilla, and milk chocolate and passionfruit). Et vous ?
