I’ve recently been watching a धारावाहिक (dhaaravahik/television series) in Hindi, which is telecast जिसका प्रसारण होता है (jiska prasaraN hota hai) on one of India’s प्रचलित (prachali/popular) television networks, Sony Entertainment.

This कार्यक्रम (kaaryakram/program), called Crime Patrol, is a cinematic recreation of how India’s police force has solved (mostly) भीषण (bheeshaN/gruesome) crimes. Some of the प्रकरण (prakaraN/episodes) are presented under the title Crime Patrol सतर्क (satark/alert) and some as Crime Patrol दस्तक (dastak/warning).

The series is intended to be a चेतावनी (chetaavni/call to the public) to be सतर्क and aware of the दस्तक telltale/warning signs of abuse or impending अपराध (apraadh/crime), particularly यौन शोषण (yaun shoshaN/sexual abuse) and बाल यौन शोषण (baal yaun shoshaN/child abuse).
According to a report in the Financial Express dated Feb. 26, 2018, crime rates have gone up in 2018, especially incidents of हत्या (hatya/murder) and बलात्कार (balaatkaar/rape).
The Quint reports that according to 2016 statistics, specifically बलात्कार (balaatkaar/rape), an 82% increase was reported in crimes against children.
Many जुर्म (jurm/crimes) against children also go unnoticed since they are perpetuated by those known to, and trusted by the children who are the target of the crime.
Know your surroundings and those your children come in contact with. Teach them to be alert. This is one of the urgent सामाजिक संदेश (saamaajik sandesh/social messages)  that Crime Patrol aims to convey.
