Here are the answers for the fill-in-the-blanks from the previous blogpost.  In most cases, the answer is a type of flower.  In two cases, it was actually a form of the word “flower” not a specific type of flower.  And one answer was actual a part of a flower, not a type of flower.

Leid: baineann aon ainm déag (11 names) le rósanna!

If there were originally two blanks, the flower name required two words in Irish (not necessarily in English).

Did anyone have any luck thinking of an actual Irish language film with a flower in its name?

Nuair a bheas sé seo críochnaithe agat, sílim go mbeadh sé úsáideach mar thionscadal ranga nó do chiorcal comhrá.  (When you’ve finished this, I think it would be useful as a class project or for a conversation circle).  Go mór mór más múinteoir thú!

Turas síos “Memory Lane” a bhí i gceist i gcuid de na hainmneacha seo, ar ndóigh!  — Róislín

1. Ainm an Róis, 1986, le Seán Connery, The Name of the Rose

2. An Áit ina mBláthaíonn na Lilí, 1974, bunaithe ar úrscéal  Bill agus Vera  Cleaver, Where The Lilies Bloom

3 An Claíomh agus an Rós, 1953, le Glynis Johns, The Sword and the Rose

4. An Dáilia Dhubh, 2006, le Scarlett Johansson , The Black Dahlia

5. An Falcaire Fiáin, 1934, le Leslie Howard, Merle Oberon, agus Raymond Massey.  Here we have a modifier of “falcaire,” not really a flower name as such.  But the combination creates a flower name.  The Scarlet Pimpernel.

14. Coinneal  Oíche, 1966, le Anthony Perkins.  Focal ar fhocal bheadh “Sabhaircín an Tráthnóna” ar ainm an scannáin seo, ach tá ainm ar leith ar an gcineál blátha seo i nGaeilge.  Mar sin, ní cineál blátha a théann isteach sa bhearna seo, ach focal a chuireann síos ar an gcineál “coinnle” atá ann.  Ar ndóigh, ní coinneal ar bith atá i gceist anseo.  Is cuid d’ainm an bhlátha é an focal “coinneal.”  Evening Primrose

15. Éifeacht na nGáma-ghathanna ar Phlandaí Ór Muire Dónall-na-Gealaí, 1972, stiúrthóir: Paul Newman, The Effect of Gamma Rays on Man-in-the-Moon Marigolds

18. Lilí na Páirce, 1963, le Sidney Poitier, Lilies of the Field

19. Lus an Chromchinn Dubh NÓ Nairciseas Dubh, 1947, le Deborah Kerr agus Jean Simmons.  Dhá dhóigh leis an gceann seo a dhéanamh, déarfainn.  Ceann leis an bhfocal “lus + cúpla focal eile” agus ceann ina ainm miotaseolaíochta ón nGréigis.  Black Narcissus
