As a Tourist in Korea – Greeting & Simple Conversation Posted by on Dec 3, 2013 in Uncategorized

Many Koreans are may afraid or shy to talk with foreigners because of their poor English skills. However, if you approach them to ask something with Korean language at the beginning of conversation, you would have a much higher chance to have a conversation with any Koreans.  For instance, you can start to make conversation “Hello, or Excuse me” in Korean, you will absolutely get their attention.

Here are some useful vocabularies and phrases for making conversation with Koreans on a street.

English Korean Pronunciation
Hello. 안녕하세요. annyeonghaseyo.
Excuse me. 실례합니다. sillyehamnida.
What is…? 무엇입니까…? mueosimnikka…?
What is your name? 이름이 무엇입니까? ireumi mueosimnikka?
My name is… 제 이름은… 입니다. je ireumeun… imnida.
help 도움 toum
I need… …필요해요. …piryohaeyo.
I need help. 도움이 필요해요. toumi piryohaeyo.
Please. 부탁합니다. putakhamnida.
yes ye
accident 사고 sago
I am hurt. 다쳤어요. tachyeosseoyo.
Good morning. 안녕하세요. annyeonghaseyo.
Mrs. 부인 puin
How are you? 어떻게 지내십니까? eotteoke jinaesimnikka?
