Muk () is a gelatin-like substance seasoned with all sorts of ingredients. Here are some mouth-watering dishes that consist of this jelly-like dish.

 

Dotorimuk (도토리묵) is made from acorn starch. The color of this is brown. It is seasoned with carrots (당근), scallions (), soy sauce (간장), sesame seeds (), and red chili powder (고추가루). Acorns contain a lot of tannins that make digestion difficult, so they have to be properly prepared for human consumption.

 

Nokdumuk (녹두묵) is made from mung bean starch. The color of this is a cloudy, white color. It is usually seasoned with vinegar (식초), soy sauce, sugar (설탕), salt (소금), and sesame oil (참기금). 녹두묵can be bought in powder form. The powder is mixed with water and boiled until it turns into jelly.

 

Memilmuk (메밀묵) is made from buckwheat starch and light brown in color. 메밀묵 is seasoned with thinly sliced kimchi (김치), garlic (마늘), roasted seaweed flakes () and thinly sliced cucumbers (오이). 메밀묵 is usually served cold and as a side dish. The gelatin is cut into squares and consumed with chopsticks.
