“When” is AV~(으)ㄹ 때/ddae in Korean and it is very high frequency and useful conjunction you must know when you learn Korean language. As you use “When” a lot in your language, Koreans use it a lot as well. Let’s be familiar how to use it by reading examples below.

Vocabulary: attend/다니다/da ni da, eat/먹다/moek da, play/놀다/nol da.

When there is ending consonant, you need to add 을. If not, just add ㄹ. Please see examples below.

다닐 때, 먹을때, 놀때

When I had attended an elementary school, I was tall boy/ 초등하교 다닐 때 나는 키가 큰 아이였어요/cho dueng hak kyo da nil ddae na nun ki ga kun a e yeoc eo yo.

When I ate a protein bar, I felt good/프로틴 바 먹을 때 기분이 좋았어요/protein ba meok eul ddae gi bun e jo ac eo yo.

When I played with my friends yesterday, I met my younger sister/어제 친구들하고 놀 때 내 여동생을 만났어요/eo jae chin gu duel ha go nol ddae nae yeo dong sang eul man nac eo yo.
