South Korea is becoming more and more modernized. Part of that modernization can be seen in the elaborate and luxurious shopping malls of Korea.

For example Shinsegae (신세계) is a large shopping mall with many department stores. Shinsegae literally means “New World” in Korean. Shinsegae is much like a smaller version of a town square. You can eat and shop all day long. There are currently fourteen floors of stores and more stores are scheduled to be added to the mall.

Garden 5 Shopping Center (가든파이브쇼핑센터) is located in Seoul, the capital city of South Korea. Garden 5 Shopping Center is more than just a place to shop. They have a Korean cultural center and a place for children to play. Garden 5 Shopping Center is like a leisure paradise. Occasionally the Center will hold festivals to attract children and their parents.

This isn’t the Times Square (타임스퀘어) of New York, but it was certainly named after the one in New York. Times Square is like a mall that is like a mini metropolis. There are movie theaters, restaurants, book stores, and hotels. The Times Square mall has an outside mall and an inside mall, where visitors can enjoy the sunshine when warm and stay in when it gets cold.

Yongsan I’park Mall (아이파크몰) is a large mall in Seoul. It has a large stadium arcade for computer and video games as well as a large stadium to view e-sports games and videos. In addition, there are clothing stores, grocery stores, cafes and food courts. There’s also a discount chain store called E-mart, where you can get items at discounted prices.

COEX Mall (코엑스몰) is an underground shopping mall and easily accessible through the subway lines. The COEX Mall is famous for its aquarium and game center. The game center is host to major computer game tournaments. The Mall also has an indoor and outdoor stage for musical performances, as well as a Kimchi Museum.
