Rising Korean Singer Star in China and Korea Posted by on May 18, 2016 in Uncategorized

There was a famous Korean program calls “I am a singer” and it became famous in China as well. Chinese version of “I am a singer”  was created by Chinese broadcast and one of Korean singer participated and won a few times in the competitions. So, he becomes a rising star in China: his name is Hwag ChiYeol. I personally like his husky voice. Although, he is famous as a singer in China, he attracted a large crowd in Korea by a program calls “I live alone” which is a South Korean TV entertainment program. I added a video from the singing program and a video from the “I live alone.”  Try to understand the conversation in the second video and let me know if you have any questions.

Let’s learn one of useful Korean expressions: in the secong video, he says “(국이) 기가 막히네/(kook e) gi ga mak he nae/ the soup is great”. You should memorize this expression by clause (기가 막히네), not word by word because it doesn’t make sense.  기가 막히네 can be meaning of “Great”, also can be meaning of “Be absurd”, so you have to see the context carefully.
