Rome’s Top Generals Posted by on Aug 10, 2010 in Uncategorized

Rome wouldn’t be what it was if it weren’t for its superior generals. Who is on your list of Rome’s top superior generals? Here is my list :

Gaius Marius – alright, so didn’t exactly win every battle, but the organization, structure and discipline of the ancient Roman army was no match for many armies- all thanks to the reforms of Marius.

Lucius Cornelius Sulla Felix ok, so he may have been a tyrant, but he had a solid record as a general. He never lost a battle and he was the only general in history to have successfully attacked and occupied Athens and Rome.

Scipio Africanus come on, he beat the great general Hannibal, and that’s got to count for something! He was also the first major general to expand Rome’s territories outside the European continent.
