Last week, on October 12th, Brazilians got a break to observe o Dia de Nossa Senhora Aparecida (Our Lady of Aparecida day), a feriado (public holiday) in the country. She is considered to be the official padroeira (patroness) of Brazil. Most importantly, her day is regarded as Dia das Crianças (Children’s Day)! Unlike most countries, who commonly celebrate it in June, Brazil devotes the month of Outubro to the little ones. And with them in mind, today’s post will go over a beautiful and special moment in our lives: the process of getting pregnant and the birth of a baby. So we have a look at some typical phrases and terms to describe this one of a kind moment, from the descoberta da gestação de uma nova vida (find out about generating a new life) to certain procedimentos médicos (medical procedures). menstruação atrasada | to miss a period, to be late
