[Vocabulário sobre viagem] – Parte II: Hospedagem

Now that you’ve learned how to communicate at the airport, it’s also a good idea to know some words and expressions related to accomodation, right? Take a look below:

• Hotel – Hotel

Escolhi um hotel perto da praia para não precisar andar muito (I chose a hotel near the beach so I wouldn’t have to walk much)

Note: in Portuguese, we don’t pronounce the “h” in “hotel”

• Reserva – Reservation

Ganhei um desconto de 5% por ter feito a reserva com bastante antecedência (I got a 5% discount for making the reservation well in advance)

• Vaga – Vacancy

Será que ainda há vagas no hotel que você escolheu? (I wonder if there are any vacancies in the hotel you chose)

• Quarto – Bedroom

Por favor, eu gostaria de reservar dois quartos (Please, I would like to book two bedrooms)

• Diária – Rate

Quanto custa a diária nesse hotel? (How much are the rates at this hotel?)

• Aluguel – Rentals

Em vez de ficar em um hotel eu optei pelo aluguel de um apartamento (Instead of staying at a hotel, I opted to rent an apartment)

• Preço – Price

O preço do apartamento ficou bem mais barato que o do hotel (The price of the apartment was much cheaper than the hotel)

• Hóspede – Guest

Precisamos avisar o hotel se você não for, pois fizemos a reserva para cinco hóspedes (We need to notify the hotel if you don’t go because we made the reservation for 5 guests)

• Recepção – Reception

Se precisar de algo, você pode ligar para a recepção do hotel (If you need anything, you can call the hotel reception)

• Chave – Key

Se quiser que o quarto seja limpo, por favor deixe as chaves na recepção (If you want the room to be cleaned, please leave the keys at the reception)

• Estadia – Stay

A nossa estadia no Brasil foi incrível! (Our stay in Brazil was amazing!)

• Serviço de quarto – Room service

Achei ótimo o serviço de quarto do lugar onde me hospedei (The room service where I stayed was great)

• Suíte – Suite

É bem mais confortável ficar hospedado em uma suíte (It’s much more comfortable to stay at a suite)

• Noites – Nights

É uma reserva de quantas noites? (How many nights is your reservation for?)

• Banheiro privativo – Private bathroom

Quando vou fazer uma reserva, procuro lugares que têm banheiro privativo (When I make a reservation, I look for places that have a private bathroom)

• Banheiro compartilhado – Shared bathroom

Para economizar, muitas vezes reservo hospedagens com banheiro compartilhado (To save money, I often book accomodations with a shared bathroom)

• Cama de casal – Double bed

Eu preciso de um quarto com cama de casal (I need a room with a double bed)

• Cama de solteiro – Single bed

Há quartos com duas camas de solteiro? (Are there any rooms with two single beds?)

• Entrada/saída – Check in/Check out

Quais são os horários de entrada e saída? (What are the check-in and check-out times?)

Note: In Portuguese, we also use the words check in and check out, usually along with the verb “fazer”

• Adiar/Cancelar – Postpone / Cancel

Por causa de um compromisso de trabalho as datas da minha viagem mudaram. É possível adiar a reserva ou será necessário cancelar? (Because of a work engagement the dates of my trip have changed. Is it possible to postpone the reservation or do I need to cancel?)
