Many are spending their weekends busy на да́че, reaping the fruits (and vegetables) of their spring sowing and getting their gardens ready for the winter. The verbs below are conjugated in past and present tenses. Pay close attention to the changes in stress and the variation in meaning when the different prefixes are added to the verbs.

Расти́ (to grow, to get bigger – intransitive)

Past:     ро́с, росла́, росло́, росли́

This last verb is not a “garden” themed verb per se, but it definitely came to my mind because of how often as a child I have climbed over….oh, I mean I have heard of other children climbing over garden fences to nibble at сосе́дская клубни́ка, мали́на, и помидо́ры (neighbor’s strawberry, raspberry, and tomatoes.)
